Meet the PI

Christine Toedebusch, DVM, PhD, Diplomate ACVIM, is an Assistant Professor of Surgical & Radiological Sciences at University of California, School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Toedebusch is a currently a Paul Calabresi K12 Clinical Oncology Scholar supported by the National Cancer Institute and the UC Davis Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center.

As a veterinary neurologist and neuroscientist, Dr. Toedebusch has an interest in comparative neuro-immuno-oncology, with a particular focus on the role of microglia in canine and human brain tumors. Her laboratory studies the mechanisms by which microglia support glioma progression.

As a member of the CTSA One Health Alliance (COHA), Dr. Toedebusch also has a strong interest in translational biomarker discovery. To facilitate discovery of novel diagnostic and therapeutic biomarkers for a variety of neurological diseases, Dr. Toedebusch implemented and currently directs the Veterinary Teaching Hospital Neurology Fluid Biorepository.

Ryan Toedebusch

Dr. Toedebusch is an associate project scientist. He keeps the lab running smooth and does everything from sterotaxic-mouse brain surgeries to scrubbing glassware and all things in between. Mitochondria are his first scientific love and hands-down the single most important thing to come from bacteria since the divergence from archaea.

Ning-Wei (Nina), Wei

DVM currently completing a post-doctoral fellowship. Nina is working to characterize OLFML3 and its role in glioblastoma.

Daniela Jimenez

Dani is a 3rd year VSTP student on the Ph.D. leg of her graduate school journey. After 2 years of didactic veterinary curriculum, she is working on elucidating the immune-landscape of canine neurology and glioma.

Jennie Furth-Jacobus

3rd year DVM student working on understanding client satisfaction and the interplay with neurology/neurosurgery experiences, among many other projects.

Kulani Simafranca

2nd year DVM student working on spatial transcriptomics on canine brains.

Megan Gragg

3rd year DVM student working on understanding client satisfaction and the interplay with neurology/neurosurgery experiences.
